The Ford F-650 is known as a Ford medium-duty truck known for its power and performance on even the most challenging jobs. They need powerful engines to perform well. There are engine options available for the capabilities you need in a truck. Here’s what you need to know about the performance features of the 2023 Ford F-650.

Engine Options

The engine is one of the most critical factors in your Ford truck. There are two engine options available for the Ford F-650. The engine options include:

  • 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel Engine: This engine outputs 330 HP and a 750 lb-ft of torque. Features inboard-mounted exhaust manifolds and turbocharger. This engine also has a 36,000-psi fuel-injection system featuring injectors that can measure and spray fuel up to eight times per stroke to optimize combustion and quiet the engine.
  • Class-Exclusive 7.3-liter V8 Gas Engine: With an output of 335 HP and 468 lb-ft of torque. The engine reaches peak power with the optimal air-fuel ratio in the low rpm range, providing the responsiveness and ability needed. This engine is built for strenuous duty and hauling heavy loads.

Engine Features

Features in both engines is the Ford Torqshift® Heavy-Duty 6-Speed Automatic Transmission. It is specially designed with a three-plate/two-stage torque converter, strengthened gearsets, and extra pinion gears to handle the heavy demands of both engines.

The SelectShift® feature has two modes:

  • Progressive Range Select: Limits gear range to lock out overdrive, plus complete manual control.
  • Tow/Haul: On an uphill, it selects the gear that minimizes gear hunting; on a downhill, it prevents upshifting and increases in speed, reducing reliance on brake pressure to slow down.
